Burglars attack POWA's shopping complex - Consume food and wines

A gang of armed robbers recently spoiled the joy of Christmas festivities for members of Police Wives Association (POWA) in Abia State as the bandits burgled their shopping complex, consumed their food and wines, and made away with undisclosed amount of money. CrimeFile gathered that the hoodlums stormed POWA, situated behind the Central Police Station (CPS), Umuahia, and burgled the shops in a row. The robbery which lasted for about four hours started around 12 mid-night and persisted till 4.am, as it was gathered that the hoodlums, numbering five, had enough time to eat the cooked food in one of the restaurants, drank alcohol and also went away with undisclosed amount of money. CrimeFile also gathered that the thieves entered the shop through the ceilings and therefore did not break any lock to attract the attention of neighbors around the shopping complex, as there was no security men.

Second try for shopping plaza in the works

WINDHAM - For the second year in a row, residents are mounting an effort to rezone 29 acres off Route 111 for a major shopping plaza. A petition signed by state Reps.
