Vornado Buys Brooklyn Shopping Center for $165M
Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO) purchased Bruckner Plaza, at 1967 Turnbull Ave. in the Bronx, for $165 million, or approximately $330 per square foot. The seller was The Kushner Co., according to CoStar information. The sale includes a 386,000-square-foot shopping center anchored by Kmart, Toys "R" Us, and Key Food, and a 114,000-square-foot parcel, which is ground leased to an unknown party. An employee of the mail room for 26 years, Stebbins has concluded that Dartmouth students have upped their online purchasing.While Dartmouth students shop online for a number of reasons, their primary motivation is that the internet, not surprisingly, offers a wider variety of products than the stores in the Upper Valley."I definitely have more options online than I do in Hanover," online shopping enthusiast Rufaro Makanda '10 said. "When I am at home, however, I rarely shop online because I have the option of shopping at several malls in the area."Unlike Dartmouth students, Jacqueline Dow, a freshman at Barnard College in New York City, rarely shops online because of the plenitude of retailers in the local area.

Rounding up restless shopping carts
Despite alert store personnel, sophisticated anti-theft systems and other precautions, shopping carts seem to have lives of their own, disappearing like magic from Valley retailers. Enter Tom Martinet, whose company, Arizona Cart Retrieval, operates every day of the year except Christmas to locate and return the carts to area businesses. "I knew there was a cart problem," Martinet said, "but I didn't realize the extent of it until we started this service." .
